What We Say
In mid-2005, Globat revamped their whole hosting line into three "Terabyte Hosting" plans. The "terabyte" part comes from measures of total bandwidth for the year, with plans offering 3.6, 4.2, and 4.8 terabytes per annum. In practice, this is metered on a monthly basis, so you're looking at 300GB, 350GB, or 400GB of transfer per month; pretty generous however you phrase it.
In addition to the hefty transfer allowances, Globat's plans include substantial storage as well, starting with 10GB and moving up to 20GB. I find this very refreshing, given the incredibly low cost of hard drives these days. Too many hosts skimp of storage for no good reason. Honestly, most sites will never fill this kind of space, but why put a low ceiling when raising it costs so little? Globat seems to have agreed.

In addition to decent allowances, Globat includes some nice goodies: a site builder, a gallery tool, a commerce package with the higher plans, webmail, spam blocking, and site promotion tools. Furthermore, they have decent support in case you should run into trouble.
If I had one nit to pick, however, it would be their setup fees. Historically, this was something all hosts did — and many still do — but Globat is running with the big dogs now. And the other big dogs have pretty much abandoned the notion of a cover charge. It just seems out of place. Otherwise, Globat is a good host and a solid choice.
