Aplus.Net is part of a larger software company. Sounds bad, right? Not focused on hosting - Just looking to add a little cash to their wallet - all the usual fears. Not so in this case! Instead, Aplus.Net is a solid hosting choice that actually benefits from their parent company.
The parent company is Abacus America. At twelve years old, they've outlasted a lot of other medium sized software shops and have developed a focus that fits well with hosting. Among their other offerings are control panels for domain management and hosting management, a knowledge base management system, and the Rodopi payment gateway for credit card processing. Pretty much exactly the tools a hosting service needs.
That's all well and good, but what about their hosting plans? Well, they cover the spectrum from Unix and Windows shared hosting, to virtual private servers and dedicated servers. And the individual plans are solid.
Their Unix shared hosting plans start as low as $5.95 per month, which is a nice notch below the current $7.50 baseline that most non-free providers have settled on. Of course, you get all the usual tools: PHP, Frontpage extensions, Perl, MySQL, and so on. In addition, depending on the plan, there are affiliate program management tools, Miva Merchant, merchant accounts, search engine optimization tools, and other goodies.
Aplus.Net's Windows plans are similarly complete, with the features including ASP.Net, MS SQL 2000, Access, and Real Media servers.
Their dedicated server offerings range from $99 for a 2.2GHz Celeron, up to a staggering $3599 per month for a quad processor 2.4GHz Xeon server with 8GB of RAM, RAIDed SCSI drives, and triply redundant power supplies. Much more than any of us are likely to need, but it is good to know the option is there.
Overall, Aplus.Net offers an impressive array of plans at decent prices with good features. They won't let you down.
